MALE PATTERN BALDNESS
We have the solutions for you
Male pattern baldness is a natural part of life for many men, often due to genetics, hormones or age. Whether you are just starting to notice thinning hair or have already lost hair in larger areas, we offer individually tailored treatments to help you regain your hair.
WHY DO MEN LOSE HAIR?
The most common form of hair loss in men is androgenetic alopecia, or hereditary hair loss. This is caused by a genetic sensitivity to the hormone DHT (dihydrotestosterone), which causes hair follicles to gradually shrink and produce thinner hairs. Over time, hair growth may stop completely in some areas, particularly at the temples and on the scalp.
DHT
The hormone DHT binds to receptors in hair follicles and shortens their growth phase. This means that with each growth cycle, the hairs become thinner and the hair follicles gradually weaken. Eventually, hair follicles may stop producing hair altogether. However, it is important to emphasize that it is not DHT per se that causes hair loss, but rather an individual genetic sensitivity to the hormone. This genetic factor explains why some men never experience hair loss despite also having DHT in their body.
Understanding the effect of DHT on hair follicles is key to treating and preventing hair loss. Medical treatments that target DHT, either by reducing hormone levels or strengthening the resistance of hair follicles, can slow or even prevent hair loss. These solutions offer the possibility of preserving hair growth and sometimes regaining hair in areas where it was previously lost.
